Why Emergency Medical Technicians is so important?

In medical service Emergency Medical Technicians has a very important role to play. They are usually known as EMT in short. In some countries they are also known as Ambulance Technician, Medical Disaster Management Technician. They are basically Health care assistant to assists in various ways during any medical emergencies.

The role of EMT

The exact role of an Emergency Medical Technicians is different is different countries or places. In some countries they response to the medical emergency calls, sometimes they assists people to handle any medical emergencies. Also in many other countries EMT refers to Ambulance driver or attendant to help the people to reach hospital. Also sometimes the technician who helps the patient with various medical gadgets and life support inside the ambience van may be referred as EMT.

The basic skills require for this service is hospitality and acquaintance with various medical services and emergency handling. The EMT usually plays an important role during the different situations like accident, fire or any other disastrous scenario. This service is not only paid service, sometime these are also voluntary services. Many medical Non-Government Organizations helps the medical team or hospitals by providing Medical Technicians and their free emergency service.

EMT in Govt.’s Disaster management Team

Police department or disaster management teams of any government also keep Emergency Medical Technicians to handle medical emergencies. In many cases EMTs are also trained with basic First Aid services so that they can help people as paramedic. In many jurisdictions EMTs are also called as Paramedic. But before getting promoted to paramedic stature they need to complete a full course of medical and medicinal training.

In many nursing and medical institution EMT is included in the course list. But as the role of an EMT varies widely, there is no specific degree or course that helps one to become an EMT. EMTs also need to have skills in handling various critical medical life support devices like ventilation, respirator, EEG or ECG etc.

So over all they are the person who is responsible to help a person in medical emergency situation before the doctors and nurse come in to the scene.
